Retirement is yours. Now own it!
You worked for this.
But nobody prepares you for the moment you realise the hardest question isn't financial — it's who do I want to be now?
This journal gives you the structure, the questions, and the thinking tools to figure it out.
"The question isn't whether you can afford to retire. It's whether you know what you're retiring to."
THE PART NOBODY TALKS ABOUT
The finances are sorted.
But what about the rest?
You've spent your whole career being good at something. You had a title, a purpose, a structure to your days. People needed you.
Then one day it stops. And you discover that nobody really teaches you how to navigate what comes next.
Not emotionally. Not practically. Not as a whole person.
Most people either throw themselves into permanent holiday mode only to feel empty six months later, or delay thinking about it entirely, until the weight of that emptiness becomes hard to ignore.
Neither path leads to the retirement you actually want.
THERE IS ANOTHER WAY
What if you arrived at retirement
already knowing your answer?
Not a vague idea. Not "I'll travel a bit and see how it goes." A real answer, grounded in who you are, what lights you up, and what your next chapter actually looks like.
That is exactly what this journal is designed to do. Over 90 days, it walks you through the questions that matter at exactly the moment you need to answer them. Not a book to read. Not a course to complete.
A personal thinking space that meets you where you are and moves you forward, one page at a time.
WHAT IT IS
Your 90-day guide to a purposeful next chapter.
A structured, science-informed journal built to help you go from uncertain and overwhelmed to clear, confident, and ready to act.
Not generic journalling prompts. Not a self-help book you read and forget. Every page has a job to do, building deliberately, into a complete picture of who you are and what you want next.
1 You get clarity on who you are
Your values, your roles, your strengths, revisited with fresh eyes for this new stage of life.
2 You discover what makes you happy
Not what should make you happy. What genuinely gives you energy, pleasure, and purpose and how to build more of it in.
3 You see your options — all of them
A structured process that helps you think beyond the obvious and choose the path that truly fits.
4 You build a real plan
Concrete goals. A realistic roadmap. First steps you'll actually take.
5 You have someone walking with you
Six structured conversations with a Transition Buddy, turning good intentions into action.
6 You can see yourself growing
Weekly check-ins track your confidence and sense of purpose, so the progress is real.

WHO BUILT THIS
Not theory.
Years of looking closely at this problem.
Uliana Shchelgacheva is the founder of Phronetiq and creator of the Thrive in Transition programme, built specifically to help people navigate the human side of retirement transitions.
This work started with a postgraduate research project on why people struggle to plan their time in retirement, and why good intentions so rarely translate into action. It grew into a TEDx talk, a startup, a workshops programme and now — a journal, grounded in that research and shaped by real conversations with real people.
If the exercises in this journal feel unusually precise — it's because they were designed that way. Every prompt exists for a reason. Nothing is filler.

Questions? us@phronetiq.com
Your questions, answered.
-
No. The journal works best when you start 1–3 years before retirement, but our experience shows that it is equally valuable if you have recently retired and are figuring out what comes next. Both situations are directly addressed throughout. We have also seen people gaining real value and actionable insights even within 6 months from their retirement.
-
Most sections take 30–60 minutes. Weekly reflections take around 10 minutes. It is designed to fit into your life — not take it over. Across 90 days, most people find a natural rhythm within the first week.
-
The journal works on its own. But you will get significantly more from it with a Buddy (it can be a friend, a colleagues, a significant other). Every purchaser gets access to our Transition Buddy Directory — where you can be matched with someone navigating a similar transition.
-
No. This journal focuses entirely on the non-financial side — identity, purpose, wellbeing, habits, and how you will spend your time. It works alongside financial planning, not instead of it.
-
The printed edition is in development. As an Early Bird purchaser, you will receive a free copy as soon as it is available. You get the full digital PDF emailed to you immediately upon purchase.
